About Scared By The Sound
2014 marks the 15th consecutive year of Scared by the Sound Haunted House and also our return to Historic Playland Amusement Park. With our original location by the Long Island Sound completely refurbished, the only things left churned up by Hurricane Sandy are the surviving scary creatures still lurking and awaiting our guests.
Come experience for yourself Crypt Walk, The Haunted Wine Cellar, Creepy Morgue, Tunnels of Doom plus some all new scenes. In addition, don't forget to try and test your survival skills in the all new outdoor Black Out Maze. Open weekends in October plus November 1st and parking is free. Amusement Park Rides Are Not Open for this Event.

Q: Is the Scared by the Sound Haunted House new?
A: No. Actually Scared by the Sound opened in 2000 and was previously located at Playland Amusement Park in Rye for 13 consecutive Halloween seasons.
Q: What is a Walk-Through Haunted House?
A: This walk-through style Haunted house is comprised of many highly detailed Halloween related scenes designed to bring you face to face with your worst fears and phobias. Custom built exclusively for use during the month of October, the main haunt itself is located under covered pavilions to protect against the elements. Other parts of the event are located outside.
Q: How long does it take?
A: Depending on the night, wait times on line vary with busier nights and longer wait times being closer to Halloween. The timed haunt experience averages 17-18 minutes. Additionally, the Black Out Maze experience and times will vary. Come earlier in the month for the same bone chilling experience with less wait times on line. We also suggest purchasing tickets in advance online.
Q: How many people are allowed in at a time?
A: Groups are limited to a maximum of 7 persons at a time with some exceptions made when smaller persons make up part of group wishing to confront the unknown together.
Q: What if it's too scary?
A: If at any time a person decides the haunt is more than they can deal with they can tell any of the personnel inside of their desire to leave. They will be promptly and immediately escorted out through one of the interior exits. Upon exiting they will not be allowed back in the haunt but will instead be instructed on where they can reunite with their group. In addition there are NO REFUNDS.
Q: Will any of the actors touch me?
A: No! There is a no contact rule in this haunt that includes patrons. You do not touch anyone or anything and you will not be touched. Should intentional touching by a patron occur you will be immediately escorted off the premises without completing the event.
Q: Are there pictures allowed inside?
A: No. No cameras, camcorders, cell phones, glow sticks, flashlights or any other source of artificial light is permitted.
Q: Can I go in again after I've made it through once?
A: No. There is no free re-admission. You are encouraged to purchase another ticket to experience the haunt again.
Q: How much are tickets and where can I buy them?
Tickets may be purchased on-line anytime and at the ticket booth located at the Haunt until closing time each night. General Admittance Tickets are $16.00 each.
